Loading... Please wait...The textured brim is knit in rows, lengthwise. Stitches are picked up around the edge and the crown is worked in the round. At finishing, pretty-little "pop-up" flowers are stitched to the band. The flower pattern includes flowers in two sizes, though just one size is shown on the hat.
Yarn: 100% alpaca, DK weight, doubled (the hat is worked with a strand coming from two separate balls), 400 yards. You can substitute for a thicker worsted weight alpaca worked with one strand. Just be sure to check gauge first. Each petal takes less than 10 yards for petal color and less than 1 yard for center color.
Needles: Size 7 straight needles, yarn needle.
Gauge: Using the alpaca doubled and working in stockinette stitch: 18 sts across 25 rows = 4 square inches.
Finished Sizes: The pattern includes instructions for 20", 21.5" and 23" brims. The flowers are 2" or 1.25" in diameter, depending on how you finish them. Pattern include both finishing instructions.
Level: Advanced Beginner
Shown in: The flowers are shown in Pick Up Sticks Wool, Aqua, Moss, Grass and Apricot.
